Proposal Manager I

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related major and three  to five years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success as a member of a small proposal team and with performing multiple functions within process.
  • Ability to identify innovate solutions to typical proposal challenges and select proper response relative to an individual customers.
  • Is able to envision the “big picture” for developing a winning concept, and is able to develop concept while meeting every requirement of a specific solicitation.
  • Excellent grammar, editing and writing skills required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work an average work week of 45-50 hours with extended hours if needed to meet deadlines.  Infrequent weekend work may be required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization from entry level operations to Chairman, as well as third-party participants.
  • Ability and drive to learn independently and apply available resources and lessons learned to each new proposal.
  • Able to manage multiple proposal efforts simultaneously, meeting schedule and quality standards for all.
  • Ability to communicate expectations and work successfully with coordinators who support the process

The Proposal Manager must be knowledgeable of the entire proposal process and be extremely hands-on in the development of proposal content.  Critical attributes include exceptional teamwork, flexibility, organization, and a do-whatever-it-takes attitude to help the department meet every proposal need.

Scope of Responsibility:

Serves as a Proposal Manager / Writer for an established Construction Management / General Contractor firm growing in new markets. Will develop unique proposal responses for Federal Government, municipalities, school, university, healthcare, and private industry opportunities.  Will oversee multiple proposals simultaneously, managing the entire process in accordance with customer requirements and Centennial standards while also writing the majority of the content.  (Response content will be developed from both new material and a library of previous submittals.)   May support other Proposal Managers as a section writer as requested.                                                                                                                   

Position Duties:

Take end-to-end hands-on ownership and command of the proposal process including statements of qualifications, oral presentations, Best and Final Offers, Clarifications, etc. when assigned
Write proposal / marketing narratives, by proper use of existing previous responses and developing new material as needed
Perform in-depth solicitation review and gap analyses to inform team of the requirements; lead kickoff and review meetings; proactively participate in development of strategic win themes and discriminators on assigned sections and proposals
Work with operations teams to compile critical supporting information for proposal inclusion
Provide detailed guidance to proposal contributors and subcontractors when involved
Communicate proposal related requirements and status to senior management
Define and manage proposal response schedules
Participate proactively in growth of internal library and proposal knowledge management
Help guide and develop Proposal Coordinators.
